Nimiipuu Health is in the mist if incorporation Telemedicine into both Lapwai and our satellite clinic in Kamiah. The technology can be a huge deal to or clients. When in full swing it will enhance and aid in medical procedures befitting our clients and staff. Because of the start up cost, Digital Radiography is not offered everywhere, but here at Nimiipuu Health quality care is our utmost concern. Nimiipuu health process most all common lab results in house for accurate and timely results. As much as we try not all results can be done in house. Do to limited resources in equipment and finances we have partnered up with Quest Diagnostics. Quest Diagnostic processes the speciality lab tests we cannot. Because of them, and their technologies, we are now able to process a huge number for tests that other medical clinics, our size, don't have access too. The technology is sent directly into hour electronic health records to eliminate any human error on all results. Quest is great benefit to our clients, with all the test run in an accurate and timely manner our medical professionals can rest assure they have all the right tests to make most accurate prognosis for our clients.
Many Native American's live with diabetes and diabetes related blindness is a reality. Routine eye exams that could identify those at high risk for diabetes-related blindness.
The IHS-JVN Teleophthalmology Program addresses this gap in health care by using telemedicine technology to reduce the incidence and severity of diabetes-related vision loss. This innovative technology uses a digital camera with special computer software to transmit photographs of a patient’s eye to the National IHS-JVN Reading Center located in Phoenix. IHS eye doctors, specially trained by the Joslin Diabetes Center, interpret the images and send a report to the patient and primary care physician. The report includes the level of diabetic retinopathy, presence of any non-diabetic eye disease, and a recommended course of treatment.
As patients become savvier about their health care and as our economy forces us to become more frugal with our money, it is of utmost importance that our dentists have the latest, greatest, and most innovative technology. In particular, moving from paper records to electronic dental records (EDRs) can boost our bottom line, while directly benefiting our patients care.
Our new system consists of two major pieces. The first part is switching from traditional dental X-rays to Digital X-rays. Digital radiography has many advantages over traditional dental X-rays:

We can view images instantly.

We can enhance images in a variety of ways to improve viewing.
Images can be stored electronically for instant retrieval in the future, if needed.
We avoid the chemicals used in the traditional developing process.
The second part is the Electronic Dental Records (EDR). EDR gives us much of the same benefits as our current Electronic Health Records EHR but designed specifically for our dental environment. One advantage of our EDR is our system is designed to integrate directly with our current Patient Management System (RPMS). For us it means better internal processes with less errors witch equates unmatchable care to our tribal clients.
We are still in the mist of putting all this together for our clients bur are currently near completion. This will be another huge benefit to both Nimiipuu Health as well as our people.
